Buckley Brion McGuire Morris & Sommer LLP Managing Partner Joseph E. “Skip” Brion testified before the Pennsylvania Senate Appropriations Committee on February 26, 2013 regarding the Commonwealth’s Liquor Control Board. Mr. Brion was appointed Chairman of the LCB by Governor Corbett on November 1, 2011. While the role of the LCB is in flux in light of Governor Corbett’s efforts to privatize the LCB’s retail and wholesale operations, Mr. Brion received praise for his leadership from Senate Appropriations Chairman Jake Corman. While noting that there is an inherent conflict with the Commonwealth both selling and regulating liquor, Corman declared, “You are doing a fabulous job.”

Sommer was nominated as candidate for the position of Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Chester County by the Republican Committee of Chester County at its annual convention on February 22, 2013. Mr. Sommer was the first of two nominees selected.
In the 2013 general election, the voting public will elect two candidates to fill open judicial positions on the Court of Common Pleas of Chester County Common Pleas Judges. Michael S. Gill, Esquire, recently joined the Board of Managers of The Hickman, a 121-year-old independent retirement community in West Chester,
Pennsylvania. The Cerebral Palsy Association is a non-profit agency located in Chester County, Pennsylvania. The organization serves individuals with disabilities who live in Chester County and surrounding areas. The organization is also known as Chester County Disability Services because its services extend beyond those individuals with Cerebral Palsy to include people with a variety of physical disabilities, such as spinal cord injuries and Multiple Sclerosis. The organization’s Children’s Early Intervention Program provides comprehensive services to infants and toddlers with developmental delays and to people with brain injuries and Autism.
