Emmett McGinn began his legal career working in the Chester County District Attorney's office while in his final year of law school. Through this internship, he was able to handle preliminary hearings and summary trials involving criminal matters such as theft, assault and DUI. The trial skills he mastered in the District Attorney's office now serve as the cornerstone of his civil practice at Buckley.
"Working in the D.A.'s office gave me great experience thinking on my feet in a courtroom. It gave me the opportunity to meet many experienced Chester County attorneys. I put a lot of effort into the job, and I certainly feel it gave back to me."
A native of the East Falls section of Philadelphia, Emmett attended St. Joseph's Preparatory High School and enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania. He focused his studies with a major in sociology and a legal studies/history minor. The law courses challenged and intrigued him, and eventually led him to pursue a legal career.
Emmett earned his J.D. at Widener University School of Law where he was a member of the Moot Court Appellate Advocacy Honor Society and the Moe Levine Trial Advocacy Honor Society.
He was hired by Buckley in 2005 as a member of the civil litigation department. "Rather than being one attorney in a firm of 300 lawyers, I wanted to be in a small firm where you get to know everyone," he said. "Here everyone is very friendly and more than willing to lend a helping hand."
Emmett currently lives in Blue Bell. He and his wife, Melissa, were married in August 2006.
