Given his love of travel and facility for learning languages, Anthony Morris considered pursuing a career in the Foreign Service after graduating from Dickinson College in 1971. While considering his options, he took a job with the Chester County Juvenile Probation Office, through which he gained a valuable exposure to the courts and our justice system. It was there that he discovered his interest in the legal profession and made the decision to apply to law school.
Tony graduated from Villanova University Law School in 1977 and was immediately admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar. Thereafter, he was admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for both the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania and, in 1984, before the Supreme Court of the United States. He went to work for the Chester County District Attorney's Office where he served as an Assitant District Attorney before joining the firm in 1978.
After initially focusing his practice on litigation, Tony gradually migrated into transactional work. His practice areas now include Estate Planning and Administration, Banking and Loan Transactions, Real Estate and Corporations. He has represented several small businesses and restaurants in the region.
"While I have always derived great satisfaction from assisting people with their problems and challenges in life, I found, while working with kids in the Juvenile Probation Office, that a knowledge of the law and a license to practice law are very effective tools for doing so," he said. "I now enjoy working with my clients to fulfill their dreams and to achieve their goals."
A past president of the Chester County Bar Association and The Chester County Bar Foundation, Tony is currently serving a three year term as a Hearing Committee Member serving the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. He is a former member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association House of Delegates and a member of the Estate Planning Council of Chester County.
Tony has been an active volunteer with numerous non-profit organizations including The Community Service Council of Chester County, The West Chester Area Day Care Center and Handi-Crafters, Inc. He was a former Chair of Allocations for the United Way of Chester County and served on the Board of Alumni Managers of The Episcopal Academy from 1996 until 2005. He is an Elder and former Trustee of First Presbyterian Church of West Chester and is a member of the Board of the Birmingham-Lafayette Cemetery. In February 2006, Tony was elected to serve on the Board of the Chester County Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
When not in the office, Tony enjoys being with his wife, Elizabeth, and their four sons whether at home in West Chester or on vacation at Long Beach Island, New Jersey. He and his familly also make time every year to enjoy what he calls the "exquisite beauty and the myriad of outdoor activites" surrounding Squam Lake in New Hampshire.
