James Kimmel, Jr. leads the firm’s Healthcare Law Practice Group. He also holds a faculty appointment at the Yale School of Medicine.

 

Mr. Kimmel provides strategic, regulatory, and general legal counseling to healthcare providers of all types, including physicians, psychologists, dentists, sub specialists, practice groups, for-profit and nonprofit providers, institutional providers, outpatient centers, and therapeutic and diagnostic service providers. His healthcare experience includes legal counseling regarding:

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Kimmel was a co-founder of, and served as a Board Member, Executive Vice President, Program Director and General Counsel to, a licensed, Medicaid-funded healthcare provider with offices across Pennsylvania and a national reputation for providing innovative, research-based services and programming to individuals with serious mental illnesses in communities and within the criminal justice system. Mr. Kimmel was also an attorney in a specialized law firm that served as general and litigation counsel to a publicly-traded operator of cancer treatment centers nationwide. Prior to this, he practiced complex commercial litigation at Pepper Hamilton LLP and served as a law clerk to the Hon. John R. Padova of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

 

In addition to practicing healthcare law and conducting research and lecturing at the Yale School of Medicine, Mr. Kimmel is an international novelist and the author of The Trial of Fallen Angels (Penguin Random House, 2012) and Suing for Peace: A Guide for Resolving Life’s Conflicts (Hampton Roads, 2005).
